Maybe if you are really lucky you may see GD at $12 this year, but most likely it will be $14.99 at the lowest. Grim Dawn is not going to be $4.99 anytime soon. They both have respawns when you restart, reasonable skill systems that you can easily understand, and allow you to build two skill masteries up per character, so that you have tons of choices, can easily create variant hybrid classes, from the many masteries to choose from and skills within each. Also GD has some special dungeons where once you leave they pretty much close for that run-thru, etc - which are fair but add to the intensity and fear of death since you want to milk that special dungeon dry without dying or you can't get back in, etc.īut TQ/IT has lighter beautiful areas, runs a bit faster, has the mythical creatures, and is still a great game. Because of this the Quests may come across a bit more meaningful, in part because it feels darker and riskier to traverse. It also has additional features on top of TQ/IT (mainly the Devotions check the Grim Dawn site for tons of info) and has lots of additional faction gear - like grenades-throwables, special potions, and special armor/weapons. Grim Dawn has an atmosphere that is a lot more like Diablo 1 (and also close to D2), it has closer spawns, it has factions. TQ series is a little brighter and more colorful, it's a little more spread out for spawns, but the skills system, the interface which provides you with ALL THE INFO you could ever want, and the combat are the same process. If you like it, well you know 92% of the game mechanics of Grim Dawn. The simplest way to go about it, I suppose, would be to get Titan's Quest and Immortal Throne first (or this Anniversary Edition if you have not already got TQ/IT with the 1.17 sd community patch). Yeah, I think you'd have to say both really.
